Behaviour 101

Behaviour 101 

This four-part workshop begins by looking at various aspects of behaviour; its definition, function and how to promote or reduce a target behaviour. This workshop will provide parents with a framework for understanding the basic principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Parents will leave this workshop with information and strategies to feel confident in addressing behaviours across many settings and situations.

Anxiety and ASD

Anxiety and ASD (ages 7+)

This workshop is designed for parents of children 7 to 12 years old who are looking to gain a better understanding of stress in autistic children and to learn practical strategies for teaching awareness and coping skills. 

Toileting Strategies

Toileting Strategies

This workshop presents the challenges of toilet training children with autism and gives participants practical strategies.  

Sexuality and ASD

Sexuality and ASD (ages 8+)

Designed for parents of children/youth 8 to 17 years old to understand typical sexual development, how characteristics of autism can impact sexuality, common concerns regarding ‘sexualized’ behaviours, strategies for intervening with inappropriate or high-risk sexual behaviour, and resources for additional support. 

Eating Strategies

Eating Strategies

Focuses on the relationship between Autism Spectrum Disorder and difficulties with eating and feeding. Parents will be provided with techniques to address common eating challenges such as food selectivity and refusal, as well as problem behaviour during meal times.

Sleep Strategies

Sleep Strategies 

Common sleep challenges, the various components of a successful sleep, navigating challenging behaviours around sleep and sleep routines, managing sleep challenges and the use of reinforcement including fading it out.

Skill Building

Skill Building

This course is a train-the-trainer format for those who want to teach their child a new skill. Learn how to identify and prioritize skills to teach. Caregivers will also learn different strategies that are helpful to assist the learner to generalize and maintain the skills.
