Building Communication Through Play

A Small-Group SLP Program Designed to Help Young Children Connect

Learning to communicate can happen in so many everyday moments like playing, singing songs, sharing a snack, or taking turns with a friend. Talk, Play, Connect is a one-week camp for children ages 3–6 that helps build early communication skills through fun, play-based activities led by a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Each day is filled with games, circle time, movement, free play, and group activities that encourage children to ask for what they need, follow simple directions, interact with others, and build confidence communicating in ways that work best for them.

Parents are an important part of the journey, too. Throughout the week, you'll receive practical tips, resources, and personalized guidance to help you support your child's communication at home long after the program ends.

Program Includes:

  • Small-group instruction led by a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Individualized communication goals based on each child's current skills
  • Builds functional communication skills through fun and play
  • Same core communication goals woven into every activity for more natural repetition and practice
  • Parent resources and individualized communication throughout the week, including practical strategies to support communication at home
  • Individualized goal review, and a summary report with progress, recommendations, and next steps

What We Work On Together:

  • Helping your child find the words or ways to ask for help and request what they want.
  • Helping your child understand and follow visual schedules and simple 1-step directions and skills that build independence at home and at school.
  • Helping your child connect with others by practicing greetings, goodbyes, turn-taking, and initiating interactions with peers.
